Restorative Power of Nature

There will be two open-to-the-public presentations in Newtown, CT, on Friday, April 5th, by internationally acclaimed Audubon Medal Winner Richard Louv — the best-selling author of Last Child in the Woods and The Nature Principle.  Henryk Teraszkiewicz, Executive Director of Woodcock Nature Center, states, "Children are already experiencing a disconnect from nature, something Louv has termed Nature-Deficit Disorder, but now they need that outdoor exposure more than ever."  In answer to these concerns, Louv has created a special program addressing the healing power of nature,"Peace and the Natural World: The Restorative Power of Nature Where We Live, Work, Learn and Play."  Louv, founder of the Children and Nature Network (http://www.childrenandnature.org/), is an expert on the ability of nature to act as a healing and therapeutic element, as well as the need for outdoor play for children's mental, emotional, and physical development. According to Teraszkiewicz, "We need to be prescribing the outdoors, or Vitamin N as Louv calls it, to all ages."  Please RSVP at http://www.woodcocknaturecenter.org/.
